I have not updated my blog as of late. Between Ft. Erie politics, Olympic games and starting school I have not had to much knit worthy to say. I have been working on socks, my traveling scarves and not much else.
The Olympics were in a way an addiction. I NEVER watch sports. That said i have been glued to the Tube since the opening ceremonies. Now that we have won the worlds most gold medals in a winter games, and the flame was extinguished I am finding myself in a withdrawal of sorts. I am hoping that there is similar coverage of the paraolympics.
I am doing a large amount of reading government documents for homework and can I just say that I love the leagalize...not. the course itself is good. People in the class and the teacher are nice.
Do not fret, I will have Marcus post if in fact I do kick it in the near future but I don't forsee that happening anytime soon!
Happy knitting!

foiled AGAIN
I am sitting writing a blog post because my plans for the daywere changed for me. I started a fitness program on Sunday. I picked up EA Active for the Wii. It has a great feature.. the "thirty day challenge". I thought, great I am acountable to the machine. Day one.. Did my workout, 20 minutes of intense lunging, running and boxing... I felt pretty good about myself. Later that night the pain set in. My back, my chest my butt....killing me. Ok this must be working. Yesterday, still in pain, but work through it... I thought that I might just die! Now add my calves to the pain centre!..Today it says rest... Yay I can do that.
i didn't want to hang out at home and do house work. (It really needs to be done btw) So off to take the kids to school, packed up my socks and off to the library to knit a little..out of the house. Trudged through the school soccer field, fell in the snow, slid across the parking lot, got to the door of the Library........CLOSED Tuesday 1pm -9pm. Well crap! So off to Tims's Grabbed a hot cider... way too sweet, strolled around the bargain shop and now I am here... blogging instead of sitting in a comfy library chair knitting in solitude.
I know what you are thinking.. I could be knitting here at home, but the house is making me feel guilty. It really is a mess. at least I turned the dishwasher on... not a total loss for the day. Well....I better do something, Let you know what it was later! Have a great day!

Let the travelling begin!
After a very enjoyable afternoon knitting at the sticks and needles guild in Niagara Falls, I am more committed to getting to the knitting.
I have gotten my travelling scarf ready and will be on my way to the post office later this morning to drop it in the mail. After seeing one of my friends almost completed travelling scarves, I think i want to collect several over the next couple of years to make myself a lapghan by stitching them together...what a conversation piece that would be!
I am having a really hard time with hubby's socks, there are SO many stitches (96) and they it is on size 1 or 2 needles, I knit and knit and seem to get nowhere! Can I tell you... I hate cuffs. I am planning to keep going today on it... I want to see the heel before Sunday...that is not too lofty a goal, I can make it.
I am getting excited to get the next scarf and think that this just might be the project that keeps me going through the long winter ahead. Keep warm...stay safe and knit when you can!

Welcome 2010

Well it is a new year, so they say. I have not seen too much different yet... I can only hope!
My stash is gonna get bigger, my brother in laws got me a Michael's gift card for Christmas. whoo hoo! I will be getting the needles I need to make 2-at-a-time socks. I decided not to try it again til I have the correct materials.
Kids go back to school tomorrow.. that can only be good. We are on our way today or tomorrow to get our new fireplace for the living room. We will be warm, maybe no snuggie needed!
I am going to work on mom's blanket today if we don't leave the house. I want to get it done so I can say I actually finished something in a somewhat timely manner. Let me qualify that, I seem to not get the bigger projects finished. If I am working on a dishcloth or scarf, I can get those very small projects done, but the projects that take more than one knitting session to complete.. I might be screwed. Again, the ADD. I can't help it, blame it on the brain.
Well, off to the couch, hook in hand to knock out that lapghan......maybe!

ADD Knitting
Well I have been going crazy trying to decide what project to start knitting.
I started the socks for my sockless feet, got to Micheals yesterday and found all the sock yarn on sale.... had to buy more! My husband and I had a spirited discussion as to my "stash". I buy yarn, mostly, with a project in mind. I really would love to just go in and buy a bunch with no purpose other than I just love the look and feel of it.
I got home with my new yarn and decided to try to get a handle on the 2-at-a-time socks. I think that I was way too tired to understand what seemed to me to be quite detailed, easy to follow directions. I frogged that out and thought , "hey, lets start on hubby's new socks!".
Couldn't do that either, I had the one set of needles needed to cast those on, in use with MY socks. OK, back to my heel which I am just about turn. That lasted about ten minutes when I got cold, wrapped myself in the blanket and discovered I could be warm or knit. In that moment, the slanket, snuggy, whatever you want to call it started to make sense to me. That in itself was a scary thought. Might have to go out and buy one today.
I promptly fell asleep wrapped in my flannel sheet, OK time to start today.
I want to know, is it a waste of a resolution to try to finish a project when I start it? I still have to finish my Mom's Birthday blanket before I go to her house the next time. It might be better if I finished it and mailed it to her instead, I have no idea when I might get to Kincardine.
So, now I have to spend the day running around getting drinks for tonight, photos developed for hubby's family, oh and not to forget... figuring our what I will wear for my romantic dinner at the skylon tower. After dinner we are meeting up with friends at a house party, is it cool if I bring my knitting? That is my biggest question. I couldn't hurt to throw it into my bag.....

Sockless!!!
I have never really thought of myself as a writer. That said, I do have some ideas about the passions in my life so this is a great forum.
I was snooping around ravelry (my new fav site) and it seemed that almost everyone was using a blog to show everyone the latest things that they are working on.
My latest thing has been socks. I made a pair out of worsted pink man made fiber. Well, they are nice...slippers. I was drawn in, just before Christmas, to Micheals and found Patton's stretch sock yarn. I had to start socks right away, you know how it is when you have new yarn! My only problem was, in the beginning, it was almost Christmas, how do you justify making something for yourself. Eurika! My sister would be someone who would appreciate the time and cost put into hand knit socks. They turned out way better than I ever expected, they don't fall off your feet, they are comfy... what more could you want? What would be the next problem? Let me tell you, more of the sock yarn, again I have to justify the purchase (after I had already bought them) Oh my hubby might need some...ok new pattern, new yarn lets go! ok, the pattern was a little more difficult to try with the verigated yarn...Will try his socks in a solid.
Fast forward to today...there is a little bit left of the yarn from sis's socks.....maybe anklets could be squeezed out?!? just about to turn the heel on the first one.. less blogging, more KNITTING!!!
